School Ethos and Aims

At Great Hockham Primary School and Nursery we are proud of our inclusive and nurturing approach where we aim to support every child to reach their full potential, in a safe, stimulating and ambitious environment.

We have high expectations for all of our children and teach them to treat everyone and everything with kindness, tolerance and mutual respect. We embrace diversity and believe fairness is not about treating everyone the same, it's about giving people what they need.

Our vision is formed from three bold words:  Creative, Caring and Daring.

Creative.

We strive to be creative in everything we do. Whilst we rely on trusted and effective ways to teach and learn, we also look for creative and imaginative methods of solving challenges to move ourselves forward. When we think of our school, we think of creative minds coming together to learn.

Caring.

Our day to day philosophy, our toolkit for sustained emotional well-being, is founded on a caring approach: sharing, support, nurture, friendship, kindness and fun. When we think of our school, we think of a caring community.

Daring.

We take calculated risks. We go outside more. We take our learning to different places. We aim to stretch our own learning and understanding by daring to do that little bit more. We understand that we achieve more by taking that extra step. When we think of our school, we think of a learning community that pushes itself further and further in order to achieve.
